2021 Thousand Candles Gathering Field Red Blend
A juicy Bordeaux styled blend that lacks varietal character.
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Ripe plum and liquorice scents mix with some morello cherry, dried herb, subtle tobacco and spice notes. Juicy ripe plum and blackcurrant fruits meld into a mulberry, dried herb, tobacco and spice back drop. Fine grained tannins with a mid length finish.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
A 45/25/25/5% merlot/cabernet franc/cabernet sauvignon/malbec blend. Made using open top fermenters and matured in older French oak. A light–medium bright crimson red. Smells appealing from the get-go with its lifted aromas of cherries and raspberries, some floral notes and a little fragrant tomato leaf. Medium bodied with some gently grippy and persistent tannins. My advice is to drink with food now, or wait another six to 12 months for the wine to open up and soften a little. Drink by 2028.
