Teusner’s Bilmore Shiraz is sourced from vineyards along the western ridge of the valley floor, an area stretching south of Seppeltsfield Road, around the back of the golf club at Rowland Flat and then on through the parish of Gomersal that overlooks the southern township of Lyndoch. Shiraz grown in these parts produces richly flavoured wines with soft and round textures that are dangerously drinkable. For the Bilmore Shiraz Kym Teusner puts the emphasis on Barossa’s trademark luxurious fruit using only older, seasoned barrels to mature the wine for a period of around 12 months.
Impenetrable inky black in colour with a very deep black dark red hue. Alluring dark plum, liquorice and blackberry scents engulf the nostrils trailed by some vanillin cedar, fennel and peppered earth notes. Rich, concentrated and lush the full bodied palate is awash with succulent blackberry, liquorice, dark plum and blueberry fruits. Opulent textural feel with notions of fennel, vanillin cedar, earth and pepper lying underneath. Finishes with a blueberry like freshness, velvety tannins and a long sumptuous conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
