Sourced from three different vineyards in the Eden Valley region with vines aged between 60 to 80 plus years old. Included in the fermentation process were up to 15% whole bunch clusters with maturation taking place in French oak hogsheads (60% new) for a period of 18 months.
Super saturated inky black in colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense red to dark plum, liquorice and dark cherry scents fill the nostrils complimented by hints of smoky clove, spicy vanillin cedar, earth and peppered meats. Rich and plush yet not quite as weighty as the Romulus and showing more freshness, the full bodied palate is laden with dark plum, liquorice and dark cherry fruits which overlay a smoked meat, spicy vanillin cedar and peppered dried herb back drop. Seamless fine grained tannin integration, the finish one of great power and depth laced with peppered meat elements.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews…..
An old vine Eden Valley shiraz sourced across several sites from 50- to 80-year-old vines; 15% whole bunches, 18 months French oak (60% new). 2021 was a fine year, and that fact shines through in this wine. Detailed with just the right amount of structural sinew pure sage, amaro and spice-flecked red and dark berry fruits, showing space, vitality and poise across its length. A really impressive release. Drink by 2035.
