2021 Skillogalee Gewurztraminer

Brilliant pale straw colour with gleaming tints of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Pronounced rosewater and lychee scents jump out of the glass with notions of Turkish delight, citrus and ginger spice also chiming in. Fresh and energetic the palate is blessed with lychee, pear and Turkish delight flavours. Some musk and ginger spice characters ensue. Dry finish with lively acidity and a long luscious ginger spice laced aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.

Lychee, rose petals, Turkish delight, green apples, nashi pear and Jasmine. In many ways, riesling and gewürztraminer share a raft of attributes, but when seen here, in this glass, they are nothing alike. This is opulent, exotic and rolling in its shape; I always capture (as I do here) an orange-blossom character through the finish that is the final distinction. This wine may polarise many, but I am certainly a fan. Really well handled. Drink by 2029.
