2021 Ross Hill Pinnacle Series Chardonnay
Barrel fermented in 20% new French oak and then matured for a further 9 months. Brilliant very pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Aromas of nectarine and pear are intermeshed with subtle dried honey, cashew and flint notes. Mid weighted white peach, ripe nectarine and dried honey flavours carry a gentle creamy feel with notions of biscuity nougat, light cashew and spice sitting underneath. Finishes fresh, refined and lengthy.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 12.9%
Other Reviews…..
Gee, it’s been a long time since I visited Orange, I think perhaps I’ve been to the town of the same name in France more recently. Melon, cashew, white peach, some spicy vanilla cedar oak. It’s juicy and flavoursome, veering into tropical fruit, with something of a guava flavour too, bright acidity through a creamy cashew glossiness, a light chalkiness, and a finish of good length. A good glass of Chardonnay here that should please most people. Drink 2023-2027+
