Founded in 1974, Querciabella have received widespread critical acclaim for its wines which are located throughout Tuscany’s Chianti Classico and Maremma areas. The first vintage of Mongrana was produced in 2005 with fruit sourced from a range of vineyards located in the Tuscan coastal region of Maremma. All of the vineyards have been biodynamically grown since inception.
A blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon the wine is matured in a mixture of stainless steel tanks and cement.
Totally opaque dark red black core with a bright red to dark red hue. Red currant and red plum aromas meld into fresh herb, earth, gentle tobacco and spice notes. Delicious ripe red currant and red cherry fruits carry a refined feel across the mid weighted palate with notions of earth, dried herbs and spicy tobacco lying underneath. Dry, slightly chalky tannins and energetic acidity with a savoury spicy red fruited conclusion.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews…..
This is ripe with dark cherries, mulberries and jam. Some hibiscus and red spices, too. Medium- to full-bodied with tight but finely polished tannins and a succulent, mellow dark-fruited character. Racy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
