Deep dark red black heart with a bright red purple tinged hue. Elevated red currant aromas are interwoven with mulberry, hints of violets, dusty vanillin cedar, delicate tobacco and bay leaf notes. Elegant and refined yet amply endowed with ripe red currant and mulberry fruits, the mid weighted palate has an undercard of spicy vanillin cedar, dusty earth, faint tobacco and bay leaf. Seamlessly integrated very fine grained tannins finishing with plenty of freshness, polish and length.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.

Other Reviews….
Sourced from 1984-planted vines. A natural-yeast, whole-berry ferment with 21 days on skins before being pressed to French oak barriques (25% new). Matured for 18 months before bottling. A deep crimson red. Gorgeous aromatics from the first whiff with its complex array of red and black fruits, violets, cedar and a dusting of black cocoa powder. This is simultaneously concentrated, elegant and textured and while already a pleasure to drink, those perfectly judged, fine-grained tannins will ensure a long life ahead. Fully deserving of its trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon at the 2022 Yarra Valley Wine Show.
Drink by 2035.

“Harvested solely from Block 3 on the Napoleone Vineyard, planted in 1988 with SA125 clone.”
Blackberry, redcurrant jelly, dried mint and thyme, light creamy vanilla oak. It’s medium-bodied, supple and succulent, black and red fruits with vanilla cream, something of a floral mouth-perfume, cocoa tannin, and a finish of good length, a little tobacco in with mixed berries in the aftertaste. Quite polished, but a nice example of Yarra Cabernet. Drink 2023-2035.
