2021 Prophet’s Rock Home Vineyard Pinot Noir

Certified Organic and matured in French oak (30% new) for 17 months. Very deep black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Perfumed scents of violet, red to dark cherry and red plum are trailed by hints of anise, spicy vanillin cedar, forest floor and dried herbs. Rich fleshy red to dark cherry and ripe strawberry fruits carry ample weight across the medium bodied palate with some earthy anise like characters, dried herbs and spicy cedar lurking underneath. Ripe sturdy tannin structure with lush dark fruits decorating what is a lengthy finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

A really unique site in Bendigo, Prophet’s Rock is an impressive place to visit. Been a while, but.
Very minerally, firm and structured. Indeed, despite the dark berry, cherry, mocha and fennel characters, this really is more about crushed rock, slate and granitic mineral characters in abundance. A firm skeleton first, tannins in a tight, silty web, the wine feels draped in its fruit and spice character hanging on those bones. Lovely in that way and one for the future more than now. Impressive.
