2021 Payne’s Rise Mr Jed Pinot Noir

Semi translucent ruby red colour with a light crimson red hue. Fragrant violet, red cherry and strawberry scents sail from the glass with some fresh herb, forest floor and spicy cedar notes also present. Engulfing the palate are delicious red to dark cherry and strawberry fruits with some subtle red liquorice, forest floor, dried herb and spicy cedar elements extending through the back half. Possessing a silken feel, excellent power and polished tannins, it finishes long, supple and moreish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

From a close-planted single vineyard in Seville, in the Upper Yarra. Fully destemmed with 10 months in oak (20% new). A light ruby red. With its aromas of red fruits, sweet spices and a hint of lavender and incense stick, there's a lot going on here. Fine, textured and mouth-filling, this has both good acidity and persistent, gently grippy tannins. Will be even better with another six months in bottle. Drink by 2025.
