2021 Patrick of Coonawarra Home Block Cabernet Sauvignon
Rich, concentrated and fleshy textured with a long, deeply fruited conclusion.
Matured for 2 years in a combination of French and American oak. Impenetrable inky black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense aromas of blackcurrant and dark chocolate flood the olfactory senses with some mulberry, vanillin cedar, earth and subtle mint notes ensuing. Rich, concentrated and fleshy textured, the medium bodied palate has generous layers of black currant, dark cherry and dark chocolate flowing across it. Sitting in the background are spicy vanillin cedar, subtle earthy mocha and delicate tobacco elements. Fine grained tannins with a long, deeply fruited conclusion.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 13.8%
Other Reviews….
Sourced from 60-year-old vines. Two years in oak, followed by three years resting in the cool of their cellars. A pretty iteration of the Home Block this vintage, with lavender and blackberry buds, dried blueberries and dark cherries. The spice threads come from black soils, tree bark and fine-grained oak. There is a hazelnut cream delicacy on the mid-palate. It's youthful and deftly stitched. Drink by 2035.
