2021 Neldner Road by Dave Powell Brennecke Grenache
Aged for 24 months in new Troncais French oak barriques. Dense midnight black dark red core with a dark red hue. Heady dark raspberry, liquorice and dark to black cherry aromas engulf the nostrils with vanillin oak, mocha and spice notes also chiming in. Rich voluptuous dark to black raspberry, liquorice and dark cherry fruits completely saturate the amply sized palate with vanillin oak, earthy mocha and spice elements lying underneath. Boasting outstanding power and silky smooth tannins it finishes very long and plush with a lingering vanillin oak element.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 15%
Other Reviews......
The 2021 Brennecke Grenache is savory and meaty and yet seamless, with dark fruits and pastrami, tobacco and crushed rocks. The oak makes an impact on the fruit, but it works well in terms of the dovetail of characters in the mouth. It is chewy and spiced, flowing and fresh. It is confident and full, with a long, lingering finish ... it just keeps going. It matured in 100% new French oak for two years. I really like it. The balanced and mild (and long) 2021 season shows itself via balance and restraint in this wine. The harmony is evident. 15% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. Drink 2024-2041.
