Massolino’s two hectares of Barbera in a limestone-rich Serralunga vineyard are now complemented by fruit from Monforte d’Alba. The 2021 was fermented for 10 to 12 days in cement tanks and was raised in the same vessels for a short period before being bottled and released.
Very deep black dark red colour with a bright red to dark red hue. Inky aromas of dark cherries and liquorice mix with earth, Mediterranean herb and spice notes. Juicy yet taut and focused the mid weighted palate features freshly crushed dark cherry and liquorice fruits over earth, fresh herb and spice elements. Tight inky feel with youthfully vibrant acidity bringing energy. Firmly built with slightly chalky tannins. Concludes bright and inky with a spicy red to dark fruited and earth laden aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews…..
Very bright with a purple edge to the color. Lots of dark cherries, violet and licorice that extend to a fleshy, medium-bodied palate. I love the crunch and the succulence here. An excellent Barbera d’Alba that can be enjoyed in the next five years. Drink or hold.
