2021 Lethbridge Menage a Noir Pinot Noir
Bright dark red colour with black tinged edges and a purple red hue. Wonderfully fragrant and intense the nose is filled with violet, ripe cherry, strawberry and red plum scents which are followed by infusions of fresh herbs and spicy incense like notes. Possessing a youthful vibrancy the lighter bodied palate has an even spread of juicy red cherry, strawberry and plum fruits which are underpinned by crunchy acidity. Slightly dryish finish with fine grained tannins. Some earthy incense and spicy herb characters lingering on the tangy aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
I wonder if anyone here is old enough to remember the Menage aftershave advertisements, with the ladies’ hand moving inside a denim shirt, to feel a manly hairy chest?
Bright, perky, juicy, spicy, floral, delightful. It’s just on medium-bodied, and I’m thinking dried roses or rosehip, pomegranate, strawberry, light grainy almost graphite tannin, a little chicory bitterness, lots of crunch and fragrance on a firm sappy finish of good length. Heaps of spice too. What a wonderful vibrant expression of Pinot Noir. Drink 2021-2025+
