2021 Joshua Cooper Ray-Monde Vineyard Pinot Noir
Described by wine commentator Mike Bennie as "one of Australia’s brightest young winemakers”, Joshua Cooper is steadily forging a reputation for thoughtful, elegant, and confident wines from grapes grown in Macedon and surrounds.
Other Reviews....
From the regenerative farmed Ray-Monde Vineyard in South Gisborne. There’s usually a strong thread of savouriness in the wines from this place, and that continues here.
Very savoury, game meat, sweet, turned earth, dried leaf, truffle and dark cherry fruit characters to sniff on. Darker berries to taste, not a lick of sweet fruit anywhere here, truffle and crushed rock minerality with licks of eucalyptus and mint just barely there. Washes over the palate beautifully, a loose knit expression but with a building, lacy web of granitic tannin. An impressive, outstanding pinot noir very much marching to its own beat. Complexity, detail, interest. One to pause over in big glasses, and great right now. Drink 2022-2030+
