2021 Izway Mates Aglianico

Originally a Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro blend, the Izway boys have evolved the Mates label into a fresher style of red to the point where it is now a 100% Aglianico. Izway’s Aglianico vineyard is located at the most North-western corner of the Barossa Valley, with an east facing aspect and a significant gradient that facilitates shading from the hot afternoon summer sun.
Dense inky black colour with a bright dark red black shaded hue. Lifted ripe blueberry, liquorice and morello cherry like scents engulf the olfactory senses with trailing notes of dried herbs, earth and spice also evident. Rich, bright, fleshy blueberry, morello cherry and liquorice fruits adorn the medium to full bodied palate which carries wonderful freshness. Notions of dried herbs, light earth and spice are also present. Vibrant acidity and polished tannins with a long, juicy, fresh faced conclusion.
