2021 Indigo Pinot Grigio
Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 12 different varieties of grapes. The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing which ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
The fruit for this wine was tipped directly into an air bag press, gently squeezed and racked to tank for fermentation with the pressings kept separate to avoid adding pink colours to the wine. After ferment the pressings were added back to the blend. The wine then spent 3 months on yeast lees for added texture.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. Delightful pear, red apple and subtle lime scents fill the nostrils with a faint whiff of dried honey and spice also evident. Gorgeously textured, intensely flavoured and very moreish the palate is flooded with ripe pear, juicy red apple and traces of lime which overlay a subtle dried honey back drop. Spicy finish with brisk acidity and a long delicious aftertaste.
Drink over the next year.
