Henry’s Seven is a tribute to Henry Evans who planted the first vineyard of seven acres at Kyneton in 1853. A blend of 78% Shiraz, 11% Grenache, 9% Mataro and 2% Viognier. The Viognier was co-fermented with the Shiraz and maturation took place in 95% seasoned and 5% new French oak hogsheads for a period of 10 months.
Saturated inky black in colour with a bright dark purple hue. Alluring scents of dark raspberry, liquorice, red plum and blueberry sail out of the glass followed by some inky earth like notes and faint spicy apricot. Rich, fresh and juicy, the lively mid weighted palate is awash with succulent dark raspberry, liquorice and plum fruit. The back half shaded by inky earth and spice nuances. Very polished tannins with bright acidity and a long fleshy, generously fruited conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
