2021 Grace Koshu Hishiyama Vineyard
Grace Wine is one of Japan’s leading producers of Koshu, a delicate, dry white wine variety native to the Yamanashi region. Low in alcohol and softly aromatic, Koshu offers a clean, mineral profile that makes it an excellent alternative to other crisp whites like Albarino, Chablis, or dry Riesling.
Situated at the highest altitude in Katsunuma Town (500m-600m), the Hishiyama area is characterised by complex and diverse soils, including large granite formations scattered throughout the area.
Brilliant water like colour with a faint greenish tinge around the edges. Expressive yet delicate aromas of green apple, lime and green pear are laced with fresh herbs and minerals. Delicious lime and green apple fruits have a lively feel across the scrumptious palate with wet stone and mineral elements lying underneath. Nicely rounded pebble stone like mouth feel finishing dry, crisp and elegantly long.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
Alc. 12%
Other Reviews….
A more musky perfume, preserved lemon, nashi pear, mint/aniseed. Very dry and stony, lemon peel bitterness and green herb, cool and fresh with a lots of crunch on a tight finish. Top shelf. Drink 2022-2028.
