2021 Gorgeous Grenache No. 1 Old Vine Grenache

Fruit is sourced from a number of old vineyards in the Riverland and McLaren Vale regions, some of which are dry grown bush vines with wild ferments, whole bunch inclusion and larger oak all part of the vinification process.
Semi translucent dark red colour with black shaded edges and a bright red hue. Spicy dark raspberry, ripe cherry and red liquorice scents show good elevation out of the glass with fresh herb and subtle peppered earth notes ensuing. Delicious red to dark raspberry, liquorice and red cherry fruits are both rich and vibrant. Juicy mouthfeel with some spicy earth, infusions of fresh herbs and pepper shining through on the back half. Bright acidity and polished tannins with a long succulent red to dark fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Well, in 2021, it does live up to its name.
Juicy red fruits, almond, a fair bit of spice, perfume and a little mint. Medium-bodied, a light dusting of tannin, clean acidity, red fruit succulence, but keeps itself dry and almost a little serious. Finish is good, gently saline, with playful tannin and quiet perfume. Delightful. Top value. Drink 2022-2026.
