2021 Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache

A blend of 84% Shiraz and 16% Grenache with the Shiraz component matured for 16 months in 2-3 year old hogsheads (80% French and 20% American). Magnificent super saturated inky black colour with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Jumping out of the glass are freshly crushed blackberry, liquorice and dark raspberry scents which are trailed by some vanillin cedar, earth and pepper notes. Rich fleshy dark raspberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits are underscored by fresh acidity and slightly chalky tannins. Notions of earth, vanillin cedar and spicy pepper are also evident. Finishes with a youthful inkiness on the medium to long aftertaste.
