2021 Fraser Gallop Estate Parterre Cabernet Sauvignon
A rich, concentrated Cabernet with a long, emphatic yet refined finish.
A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot matured for 18 months in a combination of new and second use French oak. Deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Intense red to black currant and ripe mulberry aromas fill the nostrils followed by some liquorice, spicy vanillin cedar, tobacco, subtle earthy black olive and bay leaf notes. Rich and concentrated, the elegant medium bodied palate is amply fleshed with red to black currant and ripe mulberry fruit. Some liquorice, spicy vanillin cedar, delicate tobacco, dried herb and spice elements sit underneath. Seamlessly integrated, fine grained tannins with the long, emphatic finish carrying a refined feel.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews……
A beautiful Parterre this vintage. It’s heady with violets, mulberries, fresh herbs with rolled tobacco and some nori, even blueberry muffins of all things, plus cedary oak. The palate is mid-weighted with fine tannins and equally fine acidity and is balanced all the way through. A wine of harmony that will last some distance. Drink by 2037.
