2021 Fire Gully Chardonnay

Pierro is renown for producing one of Margaret River’s best Chardonnays. In 1998 Dr Michael Peterkin of Pierro purchased the nearby Fire Gully property and now manages the vineyard with the previous owners Ellis and Margaret Butcher. The brief to produce a Margaret River Chardonnay that delivered exceptional value.
From 20-30 year old vines, barrel fermented and matured in second and third fill barrels for 10 months with fortnightly lees stirring. Brilliant very pale straw colour with a glimmer of green around the edges and a watery hue. Inviting white peach, nectarine and dried honey aromas meld into biscuity oak, cashew, nougat and gun flint notes. Fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits fill the mouth over a back drop of biscuity oak, subtle dried honey, roasted almond and infusions of gun flint. Excellent balance finishing fresh, refined and long.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
