2021 Erste + Neue Pinot Grigio

In Alto Adige Pinot Grigio ranks as one of the most important varieties and altitude is king. Erste + Neue’s Pinot Grigio comes from some of their highest sites ranging in altitudes up to 800 metres that have an array of different soil types. Picked in late September to retain acidity and freshness, post fermentation the pressed juice spends 3 to 4 months in steel with around 10% on solids to provide additional texture and palate weight.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Engulfing the nostrils are pear and red apple scents with notions of musk, quince and spice also evident. Well rounded and supple, the beautifully textured palate delivers a super intense flavour profile of pear and red apple fruits over more subtle quince and musk elements. Spicy finish with brisk acidity and some wet stone characters filtering through the long delicious aftertaste.
