Táganan is both the name of a village on the very north eastern tip of Tenerife and a local term for steep slope. Envínate make two reds and two whites from this village; Táganan Tinto and Blanco, which come from multiple old parcels and two crus, parcelas Campanario and Margalagua. All the wines are field blends containing a dizzying array of obscure local varieties grown on very old bush vines in the steep volcanic soils overlooking the ocean.

Other Reviews....
There's an herbal and reductive twist in the 2021 Táganan Tinto, from the black basalt soils of Taganana. The palate is austere and stony, very different from the 2022 I tasted next to it. In 2021, they started bottling this wine after nine or 10 months of élevage, before the following harvest. 4,000 bottles were filled in July 2022. Drink 2025 - 2030.

Engaging wild berry fruit and funk, delivering a wine that is incredibly fresh, tangy and precise with aromas of subtle mezcal pepperiness, white sesame, grapefruit and a positive hint of escargot earthiness/funk. Lively and linear palate with incredibly juicy, fresh berries which are very transparent and ethereal. Tempting, lingering finish full of wild berries. Drink now.
