Benje refers to an area high above the cloud cover on the western edge of the Tiede volcano. It’s an area that produces markedly different wines, from the sappy freshness of the coastal zones but still carries the hallmark lightness of all of Envínate’s wines. Benje Tinto is straight Listan Prieto, Benje Blanco is Listan Blanco. Both are grown on a mixture of old ash and red clay at over 1000m above sea level.

Other Reviews....
There's more volume in the 2021 Benje Blanco, from a year that was very warm and dry. The grapes achieved high ripeness in a short time, and they used more flor to try to sharpen the wine and make the palate finer and longer. They did a softer vinification to try not to extract any herbal notes. 18,000 bottles and 150 magnums. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered in June 2022. Drink 2023 - 2028.

Mineral, flinty nose with pomelo skins and an implicit chalky, seashell character. Extremely bright on the palate with demandingly high acidity that immediately makes your mouth water. The zingy, crystalline finish delivers purity and austerity. Delicious and gastronomic.
