2021 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rose Magnum (1500ml)

Translucent pink tinged colour. Nosing offers up elevated aromatics of peach, strawberry and blood orange with back notes of wet stone and a saline like minerality. Intense, elegant, racy and supplely textured all at once, the beautifully detailed palate features spicy peach, strawberry and mouth watering blood orange fruits over a back drop of river stones and an oyster shell like minerality. Finishes dry with zesty acidity and a long, round, deliciously fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.

Not included in the blind tasting at the local syndicat, Tempier's 2021 Bandol Rose nevertheless looked good when I tasted it at the estate. It's a very fine, elegant example of Bandol rosé, with notes of passion fruit and pink grapefruit leading the way in a tightly knit, medium-bodied package that adds promising hints of white peach and anise on the lingering finish. Drink 2022-2024.
