This is the only blended Aligoté in the Pataille range. Half the fruit is harvested from old-vine Aligoté Doré in Marsannay itself, including fruit from Champ Forey on limestone and gravel, and the balance coming from Échevronne in Hautes Côtes, above Corton. The average age of the vines across the two parcels is more than 50 years, and although this is Pataille’s entry-level Aligoté, you can immediately feel the depth and energy born from the old vines and low yields. The wine ferments naturally in stainless steel before maturation in old foudre and then goes back to stainless steel for four months before bottling.

Other Reviews....
A classic aligoté nose reflects notes of green apple, spice and a variety of citrus nuances that are picked up by the racy, intense and delicious middleweight flavors and particularly so on the very dry, moderately austere and sneaky long finish. This should drink well shortly after release. Drink through 2024+.

Offering up notes of mint, lemon oil, pear and grapefruit zest, the 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté is medium-bodied, with a satiny attack, tangy acids and a taut, somewhat compact profile. Drink 2023 - 2033.

The 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté has a pretty nose with light white flower and citrus notes. The palate is well balanced with a spicy opening, fine acidity with a touch of green lemon on the finish. Fine. Drink 2023-2028.

Neal Martin - Vinous

Sylvain wants an accessible entry point with this wine, made mostly from 70 year old vines and kept one year in big wood. Not fallen clear yet. The nose is a little bit restrained, but the palate is classical Aligoté with a lime and greengage touch, but more flesh than in the past. Lovely aftertaste. Tasted: November 2021.
