2021 Domaine Garnier & Fils Fourchaume Chablis Premier Cru

Based in Ligny-les-Chatel on the northern fringe of the Chablis appellation, Domaine Garnier & Fils has been family owned since 1789 with brothers Jerome and Xavier Garnier currently overseeing the winemaking and management. Jerome works the vineyards, while Xavier makes the wines, and together they are leading a group of newer producers finding their voice in the northern most part of Chablis. Organic farming is practiced in the vineyards, and fermentation occurs with natural yeasts before the wines are matured in a mix of very large barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Brilliant pale straw core with straw tinged edges and a watery hue. Delightfully scented, the nose offers up aromas of pear, dried honey and green apple which are welded to distinct oyster shell and stony mineral like notes. Pear, lime and green apple fruits carry a gorgeous river stone like shape across the palate and show excellent intensity. Crushed rock, oyster shell and mineral characters are the back drop with fresh acidity lifting the long stony mineral laced finish.
