Midnight black heart with a vibrant dark purple red hue. Uplifted aromas of spicy dark raspberries, liquorice and dark plum intermingle with hints of scorched earth and peppered dried herb notes. Rich fleshy dark raspberry, liquorice and ripe plum fruits carry good freshness with some scorched earth and peppered herb elements in the background. Polished tannins with an expressive juicy pepper laced finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Last year's Able Seaman impressed me greatly for the purity of its fruit and its irrefutable value for money. It's managed to do it again in the excellent 2021 vintage, serving up a wine of fruit purity and drinkability while being friendly on the wallet. Spicy, plush plum and berry fruits, fine, sandy tannins and a vivid sense of freshness and detail win us over again. It's just a lovely drink. Drink by 2028.
