2021 Brand's Laira Blockers Cabernet Sauvignon
Established by Captain Stentiford in 1893 the Laira Vineyards was purchased by Eric Brand and his wife Nancy in 1950. Throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s they sold their fruit to larger wineries before releasing the first Brand's Laira wine in 1966. Eric and his sons continued to produce wine at Brand’s Laira until 1994 when the McWilliam’s family purchased the property. Casella wines now own the vineyard.
Rich, beautifully fleshed and refined, this is a prime example of Coonawarra Cabernet.
Outstanding colour saturation featuring an impenetrable inky black core and a near equally deep dark red black hue. Streaming out of the glass are delightful blackcurrant, mulberry and vanillin cedar aromas which are complimented by some tobacco, subtle earthy black olive and bay leaf notes. Rich blackcurrant and mulberry fruits flow effortlessly across the mid weighted palate with subtle dark chocolate, vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco and spicy bay leaf accents lending further nuance. Seamless tannin integration concluding long and refined.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
