Still family owned and operated, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 40+ years and now involves their daughter, Emma who has taken on the winemaking role whilst Doug is looking after the viticultural side of things. The Estate consists of 33 hectares of vines planted on the prized Coonawarra Terra Rosa soils. Established in 1972, the first vintage in 1975 was greeted with considerable enthusiasm.
Typically pitch black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced red to black currant and mulberry scents escape from the glass followed by some vanillin cedar, light tobacco, graphite  and a whiff of bay leaf. The palate continues the trend of recent vintages moving away from the black fruit zone of the flavour spectrum and more towards the red side. Mid weighted red currant and mulberry fruits carry ample richness and power yet are far from heavy. Vanillin cedar, tobacco, subtle earthy graphite characters and infusions of bay leaf lie underneath. Finishes with plenty of freshness, polished yet structural tannins and a long, elegant aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.3%
