2021 Alpha Crucis Blewitt Springs Grenache

Deep dark red black tinged colour with a vibrant red hue. Elevated red to dark raspberry and red liquorice aromas infused with a mix of violets, red plum, graphite and pepper emerge from the glass. Juicy and fresh the light to mid weighted palate features red raspberry and red liquorice fruits over infusions of Mediterranean herbs, light graphite and pepper. Bright acidity and polished tannins with an almost crunchy like feel to the red fruited finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

A very good wine, yet the choice of oak detracts from a top-drawer positioning. Fine fruit, fidelitous to variety and place: kirsch, lilac, thyme and mint, ethereal and pixelated, as is the regional wont. Yet then come the tannins, too drying to let the beauty within glide. Almost there. Drink by 2029.
