Two Tonne has been produced since 2013 by local Tamar Valley winemaker, Ricky Evans. Sourcing small parcels only, Ricky works with care and minimal intervention to produce an honest and clear snapshot of each individual vineyard.

Notes from the winemaker…
Our EST (east) pinot noir is produced from different sites above and below the Freycinet Peninsula on Tasmania’s east coast. Together, these sites typify what makes this sub region so exciting. The rain shadow the vineyards sit in creates a warm and dry climate, moderated by its companion, the Tasman Sea. When picked on time, pinot noir from the Freycinet Coast displays a more structured style, it is bold & brave. This dovetails into a generous mid palate with graphite-like tannin structure.

This is from Maclean Bay (Bicheno) and Blackwood Estate (Cranbook)—two sites, one above the Freycinet Peninsula and one below. There were a few different picks here, firstly out of Cranbrook—it's warmer down there, hard dolerite soils with ironstone gravel sitting on top. Secondly, by a distance, Bicheno is directly influenced by the ocean and unprotected from the northerly breeze. This one takes a while and is basically the last parcel through the gates each year. Simple winemaking plays here, mostly destemmed ferments with a couple of small proper bunchy ones for the spice on top.
