2020 The Other Wine Co. Shiraz

Deep dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Spicy dark plum and liquorice aromas are overlaid by dried clove with some smoked meat and white pepper notes also evident. Medium weighted with an elegant feel the palate sports a savoury flavour profile of plum and liquorice fruits infused with pepper, clove and a subtle earthy meatiness. Finishes with an edgy freshness, fine grained tannins and a refined medium length aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

From an Adelaide Hills vineyard outside Shaw + Smith's usual remit, this time from the Echunga district, vinified in neutral concrete vats using a mix of whole berries and 15% whole bunches. A lighter-bodied style, redolent with bright plum fruit, offset with a subtle background of wood and stems, underpinned by a gentle spice and earthiness. Quite delicious and immensely drinkable. Drink by 2024.
