Located in the Piccadilly Valley within the Adelaide Hills region, Brian Croser’s Tiers vineyard was planted in 1979 making it the first in the region. It is perfectly suited to Chardonnay being a closely matched homo-clime of Burgundy, especially the southern end of the Cotes de Beaune where the great wines of Montrachet and Mersault are grown. 2020 was a tiny vintage with only one third of normal production yet the little fruit that was harvested was of exceptional quality. Fermented in French oak barriques (one third new) the wine was then aged on full lees until February 2021.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a light tinge of green to the edges and watery hue. An intense aromatic profile of white peach, nectarine and light dried honey scents mix with biscuity nougat, almond and gun flint like notes. Rich, fleshy fruits are beautifully complimented by a resounding freshness with intense white peach and nectarine flavours driving the palate. Flowing through onto an expansive back half are dried honey, citrusy nougat, biscuity oak, light cashew and infusions of gun flint. Showing outstanding concentration and power yet possessing a light feel across the palate it finishes exceptionally long and complex. A magnificent Chardonnay.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.9%

Other Reviews.....
This parcel has performed so impressively in 2020, with trademark white-peach aromas and a subtle lemon-cream edge. The oak is so well integrated here. There’s impressive seamlessness on the palate with citrus-nuanced stone fruit carrying so long and fresh. Thrilling chardonnay. Drink or hold.
