2020 Tahbilk Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre

Founded in 1860, Tahbilk is a historic and picturesque winery in the Nagambie Lakes region of Central Victoria. The vineyard features 200 hectares of vines including Marsanne, Viognier, Roussanne, Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvedre. Tahbilk is fortunate to have "old vine" plantings, including Shiraz from 1860, Cabernet Sauvignon from 1949, and Marsanne from 1927. More recently, Grenache and Mourvédre have been added, allowing the creation of an Estate blend reminiscent of the classic French Rhone Valley style.
A blend of 37% Grenache, 36% Shiraz and 27% Mourvedre. Deep dark red black tinged colour with a red to dark red hue. Aromas of dark raspberries and liquorice meld into scorched earth, subtle vanillin spice and peppered meat notes. Juicy dark raspberry, cherry and liquorice fruits are underscored by scorched earth, subtle smoked dried meat and pepper nuances. Polished tannins finishing with good freshness. Meaty in its feel it concludes smoky and savoury with medium to long length.
