Named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Vignerons who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, the Grenache fruit is the ‘soul’ of this blend and is predominately sourced from an exceptionally low yielding 60+ year-old Light Pass Vineyard. It was originally planted by the Kennedy Family, with ownership eventually being passed onto the charismatic Leo ‘Joe’ KENNEDY who nurtured the vines for many years, selling his prized fruit to local winemakers.
A blend of 51% Grenache, 27% Shiraz and 22% Mourvedre sourced from a wide variety of Barossa’s sub districts with the vines aged between 20 to 100 years old. Maturation took place in a mixture of seasoned oak hogsheads and puncheons for a period 12 months.

A rich, opulent GSM awash with seductive black fruits.

Shows excellent depth with a midnight black core and a dark red black tinged hue. Intense blackberry and liquorice aromas are intermeshed with ripe black cherries, scorched earth, subtle vanillin cedar and peppered herbs. Rich, opulent and concentrated the medium to full bodied palate is awash with black raspberry, liquorice and blackberry fruits. Subtle notions of spicy vanillin cedar, earth and blackpepper lie underneath. Ripe, slightly chewy tannins with a long luscious dark to black fruited conclusion. Trophy & Top Gold - Winewise Small Vigneron Awards 2022.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews….
52/27/21% grenache/shiraz/mourvèdre from up to 100+yo vines. Matured 12 months in large old oak puncheons. Ripe plummy goodness from the first sip, with light floral facets flitting around above the fruit, which sits on a base of exotic spice, earth, kirsch and roasting meats. Superfine sandy tannins lends support. It has a lively line, great balance and presents both super drinking and great value. Drink by 2032.

A very savory red with berry, orange-peel and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium body, round and creamy tannins and a spicy finish. Lots going on! Yet, it’s subtle and very drinkable. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
