2020 Sevenhill St. Ignatius
Firm and chewy in it’s feel with an assertive and quite rustic finish.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Elevated blackcurrant and stewed mulberry aromas mix with cedary tobacco, black olive, dried herb, scorched earth and spice notes. Rich blackcurrant, liquorice and dark plum fruits are framed by a sturdy tannin structure which imparts a firm, chewy feel. Cedary tobacco, dried herb, black olive and spicy earth nuances ensue. Concludes assertive and quite rustic.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews….
Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and cabernet franc all play a hand in this wine. A refined expression of cabernet(s): silky smooth, finely tuned with graphite-laced tannins, concentrated and inky but with a fresh finish way down the line. It's fragrant too, loads of dark berry, violets, tobacco and pencil shavings to sniff on. It feels controlled and tightly wound, drinking well now (though needs a big decant), but a future prospect for the patient amongst us.
