2020 Samuel’s Gorge Shiraz
Dense black as night core with a deep dark red black hue. Nosing offers up aromas of blackberry, liquorice and black cherry followed by smoky vanillin cedar, dried herb and peppered earth notes. Rich luscious blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits overlay a smoked meat, vanillin cedar and peppered earth back drop. Good freshness with slightly chewy tannins and a refined mid length conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
Very good proprietary shiraz. Weighty, but svelte and stylish, the French oak (15% new) and the period in it (18 months) both well placed, serving to harness lively florals, dark cherry, dried nori, clove and anise. Nicely structured and fresh of feel as a result. Very good drinking. Drink by 2030.
