2020 Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir
Moorooduc Estate, planted in 1982, was one of the first to be established on the Mornington Peninsula by Richard and Jill McIntyre. With yields of less than 2 tons per acre and the fruit 100% destemmed the resultant wine was matured in French oak with 20% being new for a period of 10 months.
Semi translucent red to dark red colour with black toned edges and a light, slightly rusty red hue. Intense dark cherry and strawberry scents are complimented by hints of rhubarb, dried herb, brambly cedar, forest floor and spice. Delicious red to dark cherry and wild strawberry fruits are interwoven with traces of rhubarb, brambly cedar, forest floor and spicy dried herb elements. Supple mouth feel with good underlying acidity and polished tannins leading into a savoury conclusion that’s long and spicy.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
Almost gentle and pretty but that doesn’t mean wimpy. It’s lightly sappy, with red fruits obviously – cherry to the fore – plus blood orange, exotic spices and a savouriness throughout. Juicy and sweetly fruited across the palate, with fine tannins and refreshment guaranteed immediately. Drink by 2025.
