2020 Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay

A multi clone Chardonnay sourced from predominantly from Montalto’s cooler Red Hill site (72%) with the balance coming from the warmer Tuerong vineyard. Aged for 9 months on lees in French oak barriques and puncheons of which 20% were new.
Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Rising through the olfactory senses are enchanting white peach, nectarine and dried honey aromatics which meld into biscuity oak, spicy nougat and subtle crème brulee notes. Rich and mouthfilling with a creamy textural feel, the palate is flooded with fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits. Notions of dried honey, crème brulee and citrusy nougat characters then chime in on the back half. Depth and intensity combine with a nicely balanced freshness, the conclusion long and bountiful.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
