2020 Mitolo Angela Shiraz

Dense inky black colour with a deep dark red black hue. Wafting out of the glass are aromas of black cherry and liquorice which are complimented by hints of graphite, smoked meats, spicy cedar and blackpepper. Rich, lavish black cherry, liquorice and blackberry fruits overlay spicy vanillin cedar, earthy graphite, smoked meat and pepper elements. Polished yet muscular tannin structure with lively acidity and a robust pepper laced conclusion.

Modern shiraz from a warm place, albeit riding a sleigh of tension. A clench of reduction confers floral and iodine scents, evincing an air of somewhere considerably cooler. Boysenberry sweetness across the mid-palate suggests otherwise. Loads of salami smokiness, licorice, lavender, clove and thyme, too. A little drying at the finale, but pretty convincing. Drink by 2030.
