2020 Kofererhof Sylvaner
This tiny estate, made up of a patchwork of little vineyards at 700-800 metres located at the foot of the Dolomites. Each of these plots are unique terroirs and are planted specifically to suit to each variety. Although Kofererhof estate has existed for nearly 900 years, it’s only since current winemaker’s Guenther Kerschbaumer grandfather acquired it, and his son and now grandson Guenther have plotted and replanted, that varieties like Kerner, Sylvaner, Riesling, Pinot Grigio and Müller Thurgau are sited with such precision.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. Lime zest, green apple and mandarin aromas infused with fresh herbs are followed by some flinty mineral like notes. Energetic and tense zingy lime, mandarin and Granny Smith apple flavours carry a tight focused feel across the mouth watering palate. Excellent intensity with crisp laser like acidity infused with Mediterranean herbs and flinty mineral elements. Finishes dry and tangy with a long, highly energised aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
