Winemaker Kevin Mitchell has a talent for producing budget priced offerings that offer amazing value under the Kilikanoon Killerman’s Run label. Made in the style of a Southern Rhone blend the wine is comprised of 50% Grenache, 40% Shiraz and 10% Mataro with maturation taking place in a range of seasoned French oak hogsheads for 15 months. The three grape varieties all sit in perfect sync with one another to deliver a brilliant buy.
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a bright purple red hue. Alluring scents of dark raspberry, dark cherry and liquorice invite you in with hints of incense, provincial herbs and pepper also evident. Rich and juicy the palate punches well above its weight delivering an intense flavour profile of dark raspberries, black cherries and liquorice which overlay subtle infusions of incense and spicy provincial herbs. Velvet like tannins finishing with good freshness and a long sumptuous aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
