2020 Jeanneret Rank & File Shiraz

Ben Jeanneret calls this curiously named wine 'Rank & File'. It's what Shiraz represents to him - the heart and soul of the Australian wine industry. Sourced from some of the best low yielding, old vine vineyards in Clare, the fruit for this wine was matured in a mixture of French and American oak. Year in year out this is one of our best selling Shiraz, the powerful rich black fruits and opulent feel make it irresistible drinking.
Superb depth of colour featuring an impenetrable ink black heart and a very deep black dark red hue. Potent black cherry, liquorice and black plum scents waft from the glass complimented by fennel, smoky vanillin cedar and blackpepper notes. Rich and toasty with a liqueur like density the palate is engulfed with lavish black cherry and liquorice fruits which are carried by a firmly built tannin structure. Elements of smoky vanillin cedar, black olive and a burst of blackpepper linger on the back half. Inky and muscular in its feel yet warming with a smoky blackpepper infused aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
