2020 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Valmur Chablis Grand Cru
Classic Chablis aromas of essence of pear, iodine, quinine and plenty of mineral reduction slide into succulent yet powerful broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent muscle and intensity on the super-saline finish, indeed this is borderline salty. Excellent quality here fashioned in a built-to-age package. Drink 2030+.
Allen Meadows - Burghound
The 2020 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru is much more expressive on the nose compared to the Vaudésir, featuring copious yellow plum, yellow flower and mineral scents. The palate is very saline on the entry, matched with a perfect bead of acidity, and fans out wonderfully on the finish. This is going to be an outstanding Valmur. Drink 2025 - 2050.
Neal Martin - Vinous
Fine mid lemon yellow. There is more immediate weight than Vaudésir, in slightly yellower fruit, hugely expansive, a little more Côte d’Or in style, which fits the profile of Valmur, with an astonishing quality of aftertaste. Broad-shouldered yet still fine.
