2020 Huia Sauvignon Blanc

Certified organic with 65% of the wine fermented in neutral French oak. Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Aromas of unripe gooseberry and green apple mix with citrus and herbaceous grassy notes. Vibrant pineapple, citrus and guava fruits are in the drivers seat. Tangy acidity with some light grassy characters and flinty minerals lingering on the long racy aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

There's a slight green edge to the nose of the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc—something along the lines of chili pepper, mint and lime zest—plus hints of tropical fruit and pink grapefruit. Concentrated and flavorful, this medium-bodied effort is gently silky in texture, with terrific length on the mouthwatering, citrusy finish. Probably the best vintage of this wine I've tasted since I began reviewing New Zealand wines in 2000. Drink 2021-2023.
