An interestingly mix is comprised by notes of earth, spice, ripe dark currant and wisps of the sauvage plus a floral top note. The rich and highly energetic larger-scaled flavors possess excellent mid-palate density that coats the palate with sappy dry extract and buffers the very firm tannic spine shaping the intensely mineral-driven, compact and quite serious finale. This is potentially excellent, and better than usual, but patience advised. Drink from 2035+.

The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers unwinds in the glass with aromas of cassis, cherries, dark berries, loamy soil, warm spices and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and textural, its broad attack segues into a deep, layered and lively core, concluding with a saline finish.

Fine rich purple, heady Vosne side bouquet, with plenty of gas inside helping to keep it fresh. This is beautifully stylish with exceptional length of flavour as well as the classy heady quality of this end of the appellation. Nice oak balance.

Shows a slightly exotic edge, with a salty, almost savoury element. Still, there is also a pleasant floral note and lovely definition to the red and black fruit aromas. The texture is firm but not forbidding. Aux Murgers, at the bottom of the slope on the Vosne side of the village, produces a sturdier wine than Damodes at the top. The domaine has nearly 0.7ha here; the grapes are fermented with about 20% whole clusters before ageing in cask (25% new). Drink 2025 - 2050.
