Sourced predominately from the St Ethel’s vineyard which was planted in the 1890’s, the wine was matured in a combination of French and American oak (both new and old). Midnight black in colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Intense dark plum and liquorice aromas waft through the nostrils merging with blackberry, vanillin cedar, mint and peppered earth notes along the way. Rich and ultra plush yet only medium to full bodied, the palate is flooded with succulent dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits. Silken texture with cashmere like tannins, notions of vanillin cedar, minty earth and pepper lie underneath. Superb power with a long finish that shows a refined opulence.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews….
A blend of fruit from St. Ethel's vineyard and Arrawatta vineyard. Matured in new and old French and American oak. Encapsulates the perfect fit of grape and region that is shiraz – a big percentage of old vines in this instance – and the Grampians. Boasts an intense wild herb, Aussie bush character, generous black fruits and spice that places you immediately in the locale, braced by earth and savoury leather notes. Altogether a seamless wine of class. Drink by 2033.
