2020 Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache

A blend of 78% Shiraz and 22% Grenache sourced from vines between 50 to 100 years old. The Shiraz component which is matured for 16 months in 2-3 year old French (80%) and American oak (20%) barrels lends backbone, flesh and body to the wine. Whilst the Grenache which sees no oak contact brings a soft, vibrant juiciness. Dense inky black colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Heady dark plum and dark raspberry scents are pursued by some liquorice, hints of dark chocolate, vanillin oak and spice. Rich luscious blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits fill the mouth underscored by earth, vanillin oak and spice. Refreshing acidity with a sturdy tannin structure leading into a gently chewy ripe dark fruited finish that shows plenty of spice.
